Edgenuity on a Chromebook: Run EdgyPro with Tampermonkey
Most students do Edgenuity on a Chromebook, and most "Edgenuity script" guides assume a Windows PC. The good news: EdgyPro's main install path is a browser userscript, which is exactly what ChromeOS runs well. This guide covers the install step by step, the one setting people miss, what to do on a school-managed Chromebook, and the single feature that needs a different device.
In a nutshell
- EdgyPro runs on Chromebooks through the Tampermonkey extension; no desktop app needed.
- Turn on "Allow User Scripts" (and Developer mode) or Tampermonkey won't run anything.
- Only Proctorio bypass needs Windows or Mac (the EdgyOne app). Everything else works on ChromeOS.
Step-by-Step Install on ChromeOS
- Install Tampermonkey. Open the Chrome Web Store and add the Tampermonkey extension.
- Allow user scripts. Go to
chrome://extensions, switch on Developer mode (top right), open Tampermonkey's Details and enable Allow User Scripts. Since Chrome 120 this toggle is required; without it Tampermonkey installs fine but silently runs nothing, which is the number one "EdgyPro menu doesn't show up" cause. - Add EdgyPro. Click the Tampermonkey icon, open the Dashboard, go to Utilities, paste the script URL from the download page into "Install from URL" and confirm.
- Open Edgenuity. Log in as usual. The EdgyPro menu appears over the page; enter your key in the Account tab and switch on the features you want.
The video tutorial shows the whole thing in under three minutes if you'd rather watch.
School-Managed Chromebooks
If your Chromebook is enrolled in a school's Google Admin console, two things can get in the way:
- Extensions blocked. The Web Store shows "blocked by your administrator" on Tampermonkey. There's no safe workaround on that device; use one of the alternatives below.
- Developer mode greyed out. Some policies lock the Developer mode switch. Tampermonkey then can't run user scripts even though it installed.
Alternatives that avoid the managed device entirely:
- A phone or iPad: EdgyPro runs in Safari through Stay or Focus Script. Edgenuity's mobile layout is cramped, but Auto Advance and Auto Answers don't care.
- Any personal Windows or Mac: the EdgyOne app is a one-click install with no Tampermonkey steps, and it's the only way to run proctored exams with EdgyPro.
- A personal Google account on the same Chromebook only helps if the device itself isn't enrolled; enrolled devices apply policies to every profile.
What Works on a Chromebook
Everything in the EdgyPro menu that doesn't involve Proctorio: Auto Advance, Auto Answers, AI Answers with the humanizer, Video Skipper, Auto Instruction, Auto Vocab, Anti-Logout, Discord logging, dark mode and the rest. Classic Edgenuity and EdgeEx are both supported.
The one exception is Proctorio bypass. Proctorio locks the browser down during proctored tests, and getting around it requires the EdgyOne desktop app, which only exists for Windows and Mac. On a Chromebook, EdgyPro will tell you a test is proctored and ask you to either disable it for that test or switch to a computer running EdgyOne. Details in how Proctorio works on Edgenuity.
Chromebook Troubleshooting
- Menu never appears: 95% of the time it's "Allow User Scripts" being off. Check it, then reload Edgenuity.
- Menu appears, features do nothing: make sure you're on the actual lesson tab and not the course map, and that the key is redeemed (Account tab shows the expiry).
- Tampermonkey disabled itself after a ChromeOS update: reopen
chrome://extensions; updates occasionally reset Developer mode. - Still stuck? The troubleshooting page covers login loops, stalled videos and key errors, or ask in the Discord.
Chromebook FAQ
Does EdgyPro work on a school Chromebook?
If the school account allows installing extensions from the Chrome Web Store, yes. If extensions are blocked by policy, use a personal device, a phone or tablet with a Safari userscript app, or a Windows/Mac computer with the EdgyOne app.
Can Proctorio be bypassed on a Chromebook?
No. Proctorio bypass requires the EdgyOne desktop app (Windows and Mac). Everything else in EdgyPro works on ChromeOS through Tampermonkey.
Is there a Chromebook-specific EdgyPro download?
No separate build is needed. The same userscript runs on ChromeOS, Windows and Mac; pick "Chromebook / Tampermonkey" on the download page for the right steps.
