What Is EdgyOne? How It Gets Past Proctorio, Explained Simply

Updated October 2026 3 min read EdgyPro Team

If you've never heard of Tampermonkey, Proctorio, or any of this stuff, don't worry. This page explains EdgyOne with zero tech words. Promise.

The short version

  • EdgyOne is a free app for Windows and Mac.
  • You open it, press Launch, and Chrome opens with EdgyPro already set up.
  • On proctored tests, Proctorio can't tell EdgyPro is there.

First: What's Proctorio?

Proctorio is the "test watcher" some schools turn on for big Edgenuity tests. Think of it like a hall monitor that lives inside your browser. While the test is open, it looks around and asks things like:

If it sees something it doesn't like, it flags you or won't let the test start.

Why the Normal Version Gets Caught

The regular way to use EdgyPro is through Tampermonkey, a Chrome extension. That's great for normal lessons and quizzes. But on a proctored test, the hall monitor looks at your extension list, sees Tampermonkey sitting right there, and goes "hey, what's that?"

So the Tampermonkey version stops itself on Proctorio tests to keep you safe. That's where EdgyOne comes in.

So How Does EdgyOne Get Past It?

Imagine the hall monitor walks into your room and asks, "Anyone else in here?" Normally, EdgyPro is standing in the middle of the room waving. With EdgyOne, EdgyPro isn't standing anywhere the monitor looks, and every question the monitor asks gets the boring, "nope, all clear" answer it expects.

In slightly less silly terms:

  1. EdgyOne opens its own copy of Chrome. It's a separate, clean browser just for Edgenuity, not your everyday one with a bunch of extensions.
  2. EdgyPro is built in, not added as an extension. There's no Tampermonkey in the extension list for Proctorio to spot.
  3. Proctorio's checks come back clean. When it asks its usual questions, it gets the answers a normal, by-the-book student's computer would give.
  4. It keeps itself updated. When Proctorio changes something, EdgyOne updates on its own in the background, so you don't have to do anything.

You don't need to understand any of that to use it. You just press Launch.

Got a Windows PC or Mac?

Quick Questions

Is EdgyOne free?

Yes. The app is free. You only need an EdgyPro key to unlock EdgyPro's features inside it.

Do I need EdgyOne if my school doesn't use Proctorio?

Not really. The Tampermonkey version works fine for normal lessons. EdgyOne is just easier to set up and covers you if a proctored test ever shows up.

Does it work on a Chromebook or phone?

No. EdgyOne is Windows and Mac only. Chromebooks use Tampermonkey, and phones/iPads use the mobile setup on the download page.

Is it a virus?

No. It's a normal installer from edgypro.net. Only download it from our site, never from a link someone DMs you. More on that in Is EdgyPro Safe?
